The Avante Ibogaine Institute is honored for the opportunity to provide therapeutic psychedelic treatments, integrative counseling, and ongoing therapeutic support to our U.S. Veterans who suffer from combat-related mental health and addiction.
Our collaboration with the non-profit Veterans support organization “Operation Oasis” as well as The University of Bahamas Clinical Research Department has allowed us to help these courageous men and women to overcome the debilitating symptoms associated with combat related Post Traumatic Stress, mTBI, and CTE.
What Is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder?
Post Traumatic Stress is the result of acute and chronic changes in the neurochecmical system within specific regions of the brain. These changes can inflict long-term effects in the brains circuitry that are involved in the stress response.
Understanding the relationship between structural changes in the brain and PTSD helps researchers develop better approaches for preventing and treating the disorder. Studies have shown that the hippocampus region of the brain is found to be smaller in people with PTSD than in those without the disorder.
Avante’s partnership with The University of Bahamas Clinical Research Department plays a vital role in assessing pre and post-treatment magnetic resonance imaging of the brain to determine the effects of psychedelic therapy. Both the amygdala and hippocampus regions of the brain have been consistently implicated in the pathophysiology of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
